Tuesday was Brinley's 1st day of kindergarten. BOO HOO! I kept tryn to tell her tat she's my baby and i am just going to home school her so she can stay home with me! (I'm just a little selfish) She just puts her hands on her hips and gives me this look and say's " Oh come on, really mom really".
Oh how i love that girl. I don't know what I am going to do without her. Good thing she has C track and only goes 9 days and then is off for 3 weeks. We still have lots of fun summer left.

Easter Egg Hunt in the snow. we must be in utah!

Where do we begin. I can' t tell you how many times I've sat down to update this and just got involved in other things. So let me do my 6 month review of our "Life.s"

In February we went on a road trip to California. Grandma Great needed a ride home,so we decided we could use a trip to " The Happiest Place". It was so much fun. We rented a car and was off. Our puppy "Yorkiee" we found to be a pretty good little traveler. My mom and sister Shauna decided they needed a little vacation as well and joined us.

When it comes to our blog that is what the title should be! I really like quarterly,since that's how it's going any how! The picture with the "baby" that's Brinley, her first Christmas. As I was looking through all the pictures I just looked at this and it made me want to laugh! She is so cute and getting so big! This years dance recital. And last but taking up lots of time the new addition to our "family." I really had to be persuaded into this and I'm still not sure if I totally gave in. It's still a daily job! He's definitely Mike's boy!

September 13,2004 our world changed!! Our little angel was born. She was so little. 6lbs 2oz. She was about to endure the fight of her life. I remember all I kept saying was that "I'm a mommy." We had waited so long for you.We have never been so happy. When I was finally able to see you(you didn't like the medicine they gave you,& you decided to give them a hard time) all I could do is cry. We had so many dreams for you. How would this all turn out? 4 Heart 2 hip and 2 eye surgery's in the first 2-1/2yrs of my life. It's amazing how everything comes rushing back to your mind like it just happened.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRINLEY!!! I'm a little behind as usual,we are having to much fun partying. That is an understatement.This happy girl of ours turned 5. I can't believe where time has gone and I'm so greatfull for the memories good and bad that we have. We have truly been blessed. I was going to post pictures of all the party's but apparently the cameras in the truck with Mike, so later.

Another Year Without Cardiology!

Brinley had an echo last Monday June 1st. It was the first time she didn't have to be sedated. That was so nice. Everything looks good. The VSD is leaking a little. (they closed that during last surgery-2yrs ago) they are not worried about it though. We got all clear for another year. Ya!
Even though it's been 2 years since surgery, and they think we'll go several more, I still get really nervous leading up to the appointment, She wasn't to sure about it either. Laying down on the bed, while she was having it done almost gave her a panic attack, she was holding on to my hand so tight. She was glade to see Dr. Su where she felt much more at ease. Of course we had to finish it off with a visit to the Rainbow Cafe. She just loves to eat there. Of course she hasn't experienced it like us.

Time
Here we go again. I'm creating a pattern. Every couple months I sit down and figure out how to do a post. If i did it more often I could remember and be able to do it more. This is actually the second time in the last two weeks I've tried this the first one I lost before I posted.

What have we been up too! My grandfather passed away in February. He was 82 years old and looking forward to skiing on his birthday! He was such an amazing guy and lived his life to the fullest.
March we had to run away with my mom to California.(me & Brinley) We left with a nights notice. My mom had enough stress and needed to get away. We were off to see my grandmother. I know she had to drag me kicking and screaming!!! We surprised Brinley with Disneyland. I told her the whole time there we weren't going there. We are just going to visit Grandma Great! We'll she showed us. As we drove through the gates we asked if we should go in. She daid no I just want to look at it. It took us awhlie to convince her to have fun.
April and oh how I love this time of year when It starts to be warm. March 27th marked 2 years since Brinley's last Heart surgery. I can't believe we got here. She had an appointment with orthopedics and everything is progressing as they would like. She totally understands why she trips so much "her little bum's the same size as when I first saw here"(she was 2 1/2 months old)
Easter. Home . Our second Easter at Home as a family. Brinley and Mike had so much fun with the Easter eggs . The Easter Bunny brought Brinley a scooter. I'll have to post pictures later.

Finally, current. Brinley is out of preschool for the summer. I love having my little buddy around. I'm really going to try and do this more. Maybe I should show Brinley she learns and can handle the computer easier then me. Of course Mike us to be the blogger ?

Paul Cardall

We attended the concert benefiting Paul Cardall last night, what an amazing night it was, Brinley loved the music and the lights that danced around in the auditorium. The night was a magical experience...I had a whole host of emotions as I sat and really tried and truly listen to the music and the message of hope that filled the room. I couldn't help but think of the difficult road that Paul has traveled and the trials that he has overcome and those yet to climb. In this earthly life there are no guarantees only heavenly promises of the glory that will come if we do all that is asked of us hear on earth. I used to have a difficult time dealing with the unknown future for Brinley, but over time I have learned that Becky and I have been blessed with the greatest opportunity to learn and serve others in ways I would have never had to chance. It has been a great experience to meet other children and parents going through the same struggles, and trials...although each and every situation is unique, I feel a great bond and love for them.

Brinley is doing fine, she just got over a nasty virus that was painful and last about 2 weeks, Becky and I are both glad this ones over. This week she is going up to Primary children's for a hip check up...I'm hoping things go well. Her next cardiologist appointment is in June, its been a little over 2 years since her last open heart surgery and we are praying for her continued good health. We know that things aren't perfect but we're still optimistic that we have many years before the next surgery. She has such a sweet spirit and light that just makes our house glow, right now she is preparing for her dance recital in a couple of weeks. and continues to go to preschool and loves to learn.

So we've been a little busy lately. With what , I'm not sure. Mike has been working a lot and I have not. Being that he generally does the blogging and has been to busy or to tired it has not been done. So feeling like we've been away from the world I thought I'd post a few pictures of what we've been up to. I shouldn't tell you that Brinley has been either at preschool or playing at a friends all day and this is all I've come up with. Halloween was fun and we had a great Christmas. Brinley was very spoiled,but well deserved and very greatful and excited. Now if we can just get through the dreaded month of January. Mike has been Ice fishing a couple of times ,but I couldn't get the pictures off the camera. Well post those when we can. So here goes nothing.

I just wanted to give a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Shout out to Mike! So many festivities for Halloween sometimes I feel bad that his birthday gets swept aside. Actual I think he prefers it that way. He loves watching Brinley and making her happy. Right now I've sneaked away to do the blog and they're carving pumpkins. Don't worry I'm not missing out. I actually prefer to keep my food that I just ate down. Yuk it smells.!! I just love watching them together. They are so cute,I'm a little nervous though she is becoming so much like him. I'm really going to be in for it when she get's older, they already like to gang up on me. I am so greatful for Mike and all he does. I feel like I am the luckiest person in the world. I love you!!! Halloween

October has been such a busy month and its almost over!!! Brinley had her hip appointment this month at PCMC and her doctor was overwhelmed with joy as to the progress the left hip has overcome and the great strides she continues to make, to say the least we are happy!

We also went to the pumpkin patch a couple of weeks ago and picked out some pumpkins, we usually carve them the a couple of days before Halloween. Brinley had so much fun picking out the pumpkins and getting to enjoy a hayride as well.

My mother-in-law always has a Halloween party for her grandkids and this year was no different all of the kids got together, dressed up in there costumes, ate pizza and played games. Brinley had a great time and even her uncle James brought his dog over and it had a hot dog costume on.

I took a Friday off last week and went on a man-cation for an overnight adventure in the backwoods for a little fish trip with a few friends. The fishing was a little slow but the weather was awesome and we had a great time.

Intermountain Healing Hearts had its first birthday party and we are so happy at the progress the group has made and the great strides that the group has accomplished in such a short amount of time. We look forward to a bigger and better year!

Those that know me know that I just love the fall, it is definitely my favorite time of the year. When the leaves change color, the temperatures become comfortable, the beginning of the football season and Halloween along with my b-day all happening in the month of October. I just love it!!! Last weekend we got a chance to take a drive and enjoy some of the changes that were happening in the mountains. Brinley even spotted some deer on the mountain side that we didn't see until we looked closer, boy does she have a great set of eyes! Today at the house it started snowing! Lately I have had the kitchen torn up and have everything in disarray, dishwasher on the back deck, fridge and stove in the front room. We have always disliked the kitchen floor, we had linoleum and after ten years of wear and tear it started to look ugly, so I tiled it with some help from a friend at work. It has been difficult because between my friend and I because we have worked some overtime lately that I wasn't planning on when I started the project that forced me to drag this out a little longer then expected. But I finally got it finished it!!! It makes the room looks much better then before and adds a nice touch to the kitchen and the best is that I scored some major points with Becky for getting it done. I didn't take any pictures until I got started so you can't see the true before pictures. So here they are...what do ya think?

Contract talks-
CWA union rejects Qwest's proposed 3-year contract
Members of Qwest Communications' largest union have rejected a proposed three-year contract, but there appeared to be no immediate threat of a strike.
The Communications Workers of America and Qwest, which provides local phone service in the West, said they would meet in the coming days to schedule more talks. The union represents 20,000 Qwest employees in Utah and a dozen other states.
Union members had authorized a strike after the previous contract expired Aug. 16, but they have continued working while negotiations continue.

2008 Intermountain Healing Hearts Fun Run/Walk

Saturday was a busy day, the much anticipated 2008 Intermountain Healing Hearts Fun Run/Walk took place in Provo and was the most amazing thing. The day was prefect, I knew that this event was put together with alot of time and dedication. I just hoped that when all the pieces came together that it was a huge success, as the start time got closer and closer the crowd got bigger and bigger at the check-in table, my heart began to fill with so much love and happiness, as I saw many families and friends begin to mingle with each other, I knew this was the beginning of something special. When IHH was just a dream I thought of a day like this where families could find one another and be in company that knew what they were experiencing. I want to say that I was surprised when we finally started that there was around 300 people. The fun/run walk started a little after 9:30 a.m. and everyone was having fun, it was only a mile but family and friends bonded together and had fun with it. After we took photos of the families who's angels have past away and had a ceremony honoring those that had earned their wings, we also took photos of all the heart kids that were present at the event. There was a face painting station and we made get well cards for those that are still in the hospital. We had juices and waters along with granola bars and apples from Carolyn's family farm. Then we had a raffle for all of the prizes that were donated to the group from places like Smith's and Target just to name a few...the grand prize was a brand new 16GB touch screen IPOD that was won by a 2 year little girl! Wow!!! I can't believe how far this group has come in less then a year. It couldn't have made it this far without the drive and dedication by alot of caring people. Going forward now that we are legal as a non profit group the sky is the limit as to the good work that can be done on behalf of all those battling congenital heart defects. Well I did it! I just dropped Brinley off for her first day of preschool. I was so not looking forward to it. All the other parents couldn't wait to drop there children off but me and Brinley are buddy's. She is so good and well behaved. I think the hardest part is thinking back 4yrs ago about now. I was only 2 1/2 weeks from delivering her and had know idea where our new adventure was going to take us. If we could of skipped all the in between worrying and misc. not so fun stuff I would probably be fine. Who ever imagined that we would be here and should would be such an active almost 4 yr old. She always seizes to amaze me and I love her so much. I keep asking her where is my baby and she just looks and me and says mom you don't want me too grow up huh? But I 'm getting so big and I'm going to be a mommy. She did so good when I left. The teacher said to give mom hugs and kisses and I thought she was going to cry and hold for dear life. Then she saw her friend and let go and grabbed onto his arm. I'll have Mike post pictures when he gets home. Rebecca

Preschool... Dance...!!!

Brinley starts preschool on Tuesday, she is so excited to go to school. Grandma Linda (Becky's mom) has a tradition that she's been doing for quite awhile with her kids and now grandchildren. She takes each one of them shopping for 1 special outfit that the kids get to pick out and then she takes them to lunch, the day is dedicated to spending time together before school starts. Brinley had her first special day with grandma and loved it! She can't wait to meet her new teacher and learn new things. She will be going to the same class as the neighbor boy next door, so I think at least she'll already know somebody and feel comfortable. I know Becky is having a hard time with this because she feels like she losing her baby, on the other hand I feel like at times I couldn't see this day coming because I was always so worried about her surviving all of those heart surgeries, but the last year has brightened my outlook and I look forward to seeing what wonderful things she can accomplish. She is also starting dance again and has told us several times how much she enjoys it and points out the location every time we past by the dance studio, she remembers her teacher and can't wait to do another recital.
Last night Becky and I went up to the hospital to do some volunteer work and check on some of the kids having heart surgery or recovering from such. We love doing this together I think as much as it is needed, we enjoy serving others and sharing our time with them. We try and do this 2 to 4 times a month and have racked up alot of time for the hospital's parent to parent program that we have helped build along with others from our group. I don't always have the strength or the energy after working all day, and the 40 minute drive but when I get there I feel so good to be able to talk, laugh and sometimes cry...these kids are so special and I feel such a bond with their families.

Qwest, CWA and IBEW Reach Tentative Agreement

After marathon talks (early Monday morning 2:00a.m.) the two sides have come together to avoid a strike, pending ratification by the members, Qwest Communications International Inc. reached separate three-year tentative agreements with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). The proposed contract will apply to nearly 20,000 CWA members and nearly 200 IBEW members in 14 states. Well looks like I'll be going to work today...the details to the deal won't available for a few days and then we'll have to vote on them. In this economic environment it was a little give and take on both sides I'm sure, I know the biggest thing was the health care issues that face this country today, they seem to continue to rise at such a fast pace and this country will have to find the answers and address them before to long...

Stressful

As many of you know that I work for Qwest Communication's as a Network Tech in the construction splicing part of the job. Well our contract has expired as of midnight last night and no new talks have come about. The big issues are health care and of course wages. In the hours and days ahead we could be facing a strike as these issues are not solved. We have given the union the power and have authorized them to call a strike if these talks break down, who knows what will happen. There are 20,000 union members stretched across 14 states who's lives and jobs will be on the line. I personally don't really think we're asking for much. Can you imagine not going to work and then ask yourself, how long can you survive without a pay check. Hopefully things will get solved real soon and everyone can get back to work.

A Little Getaway

Last weekend we spent an overnighter in Logan and stayed in a nice hotel that had a swimming pool, Brinley loved it so much she's beginning to love the water more and more, although she can't last too long she gets cold easy and starts to change color, I know that her body can't pump the blood around as efficiently as a normal person can so we tend to keep an eye on her and we let her body tell us when its time to get out. In the morning we visited the local farmers market walk around and ate some handmade ice cream from a guy with a hand crank unit, it was made with fresh fruits and berries. Then I took her a field trip to Richmond, where we visited with a local lady that runs and operates her own cheese making operation. She owns 4 swiss cows and produces 8000lbs of various cheeses a year! She took us around her farm and let Brinley see the cows and the clean rooms where she makes and stores the end product. Before Brinley seems to think that milk and cheese comes from the store, so this was pretty cool! We then took a drive up Logan canyon to Bear Lake, eat lunch and get raspberry shakes. It was just an overnighter but we had alot of fun.

Summertime Fun

Its been so busy with all the fun summertime activities, Brinley was in the children's parade, preview to the 24th celebration and all the fun things they got to do after it was over, like play on the bounce houses and cookie decorating and just fun little things for them to enjoy and it was all free of charge! Then there was last Saturday when it was so hot, we went to the fund raiser for Daxton's new heart and made a trip to the gateway splash area so Brinley could have fun and we too could cool off, it was actually pretty fun, we all shared some cold drinks and just enjoyed ourselves.

I just wanted to let my beautiful wife know how much she means to me and wish her a Happy Birthday!!! I was looking back at some of our earlier photos and can't believe how the time has pasted...we're starting to grow old together (gray hairs and all!) There is one thing that we can never control and that is time, one matter how things turn out in life, you can't stop it. Happy Birthday!!! I know that Brinley has been excited to give you some of the gifts that we have been picking up along the way, that she has been coloring on the packages and such. I know I can trust her because she held the presents in her closet all week behind a few things, so you couldn't find them and then I made her take an oath not to tell you. I don't know how long that will last because of the tight motherly bond between you!!! She couldn't wait for me to get home from work so we could give them to you and take you to dinner!

Our Friends the Cook Family

for Ryan and Hilary Cook and their son Daxton. For those who don't
know their situation, Daxton was put on the transplant list a few
weeks ago and is awaiting a new heart. Their family and friends have
put this wonderful event together on their behalf and hope to raise
enough money to help them offset the mounting medical bills. Please

Winegar's Supermarket in Bountiful at 3371 Orchard Dr. The event will
be this Saturday July 26th and will start at 8:00am and end between
2-3:00pm

Camping over the 4th of July

Yes thats right we ventured out into the wild for Brinley's outdoor adventure, a 2 night stay at Lost Lake along the Mirror lake highway. This is actually her 2nd time camping the first time was a quick 1 night stay last year, just to see how she would react. She wasn't quite sure about staying in a tent and being out in the woods, but made the most of it. When we got there and we're setting up the tent, it wasn't 30 minutes before she fell backwards into the fire pit and got all black and bumped her head. When this happened I thought to myself that this could be a very long weekend with a 3 year old...
Overall she did fine, a few more falls and some more scraps and bruises, but had a good time. We went for walks, went fishing, took naps and sat by the fire. Just a nice way to avoid the 100 degree temps in the Salt Lake Vally and enjoy some time with family.

Brinley's Appointment

Well Monday we had a very busy day, first the dentist at 8:30am and then followed by her cardiologist appointment at 10:10am. The dentist was pretty good and Brinley did very well with getting her teeth cleaned and flossed, he gave her a clean report and she got to pick a little toy in his office and then off to Primary Children Medical Center. When we got there we had the usual chest x-rays and such which Brinley doesn't like to much but because they give her stickers she is o.k. with it. This time was a little different because they don't do the stickers anymore...they give the kids gold coins instead and they can use them in some machines around the cardiology department for little trinkets, kinda like you would find in quarter machines at the grocery store. They checked her height and weight and she's now on the charts at around the 6% for both, which is still pretty small, she weighs 28lbs.(with shoes and clothes) and will be turning 4 this September.
After careful examination by Dr. Su and looking at all her information from the EKG(she cried)and chest x-rays he was very please at the progress shes made in her heart development and O2s, he even took her off her enalapril, and now she is only taking a 1/2-81mg tab of baby aspirin daily. He told us that everything looked great and that he felt very comfortable in not seeing her again for an entire year...we were shocked and so happy to hear this news...its the kind of news you pray for everyday and to be honest I tried to ask him every image able question I could think of before we left his office and he still couldn't think of a reason to see her any sooner then a year!

We attended our little heart friend Charles Hossfield's funeral on Tuesday evening in Layton. It was an amazing service. I must tell you that when I have ever attended a heart child's funeral, I get very emotional inside myself...I just want to scream and punch something, I take each of these losses very personal and with the news we received the day before from Brinley's appointment. I have to ask myself "why" does heavenly father pick and chose the trials and events that lead up to all of these challenges that we as parents face with our heart kids...I know what the answer is but sometimes I just can't help myself. Funerals are never easy but I was pleasantly surprised and happy with all the support the Hossfield's received from the group, from that standpoint I was very pleased that so many people would make the drive and cared so much. Thank you to all who attended.
We have several heart children in need of many prayers at this time please keep them in your thoughts this week as they continue their fight.

Monday June 30th

This is our big appointment day at PCMC with Dr. Su, to see how well Brinley's heart is doing since the last check-up in November. She also has a dentist appointment as well, we had to call and get her antibiotics. I took the day off from work so I could be with her...you never know how long these appointments will be. I hope and pray that things will be o.k., she seems fine and is growing (slow) but growing. She is almost always happy and developing so much, she is in that stage where she is picking up on things and saying things that make you say "wow" how did you know that or get that from? She is very observant and is making such great strides in her ability to learn new things. She also operates the computer and knows what shes doing...navigating through web pages and clicking the mouse, its kinda funny how fast they learn. Thanks to the Baker family for sharing an online learn program about the ABC's called http://www.starfall.com she has loved it as well as many more! Well we'll updated you on Monday sometime on how things go and the news we get about her heart. Also please pray for our heart friends alot of them our going through some rough times right now...

The day I became a father...I don't think I could ever imagine the joy that two people could possibility feel after a long battle of infertility. The overwhelming happiness and instant love is something I will never forget. Becoming a father is such a big responsibility especially to a child born into a lifetime struggle of congenital heart defects. I don't know if I will ever get another chance to experience fatherhood again with another child but I can tell you I love her so much and cherish ever moment we spend together. Maybe its because she was born with a birth defect or the fact we are a little older, either way I'm glad that heavenly father has given me this opportunity to be a father to such a special child. She came to me this morning and said "do you know what day it is?" and I said "yeah its Sunday" - she said "no its not its fathers day and I love you so so much", while proceeding to give me several big hugs and kisses. I can't tell you how overwhelmed I was with emotion...if she could only truly understand what those few words meant to me. Fathers Day

I just wanted to let Mike know how greatfull we are for him. I never could of made it without him! We've been through a lot together. He always seems to pick me up and carry me when I need it. He is such a great inspiration and hard worker. He is such a great and dedicated father. He didn't have a great example growing up and you would never know that. I am always in awe looking at him with Brinley. I also see how much she is like him and need to remind him of that daily when she teases him back. I love watching these two together and am truley greatful to spend eternity with them.

Congenital Hip Dysplasia

Someone the other day asked about Brinley's hips and the surgeries to correct them, so I dug around and ran across some pictures of when Brinley had her hip surgeries, she was 7 months old and 6 weeks post op from her second heart surgery, when the doctors decided to do the first of two hip surgeries. Looking back I don't know how we did it...
About a month after the first hip surgery we took a trip to the Grand Canyon and take a short break from all the hospital stuff. The weather was great and before the trip we modified a front seated carrier sling thing that would accommodate the hip cast. It was the only real way to carry her around for any length of time. As you can see this one is purple, the second cast was pink(not shown). The X-ray was her check-up on April 4th 2008. As you can see the ball and socket are starting to form,(the doctor drew on the picture in ink)thats good news because if it didn't that would mean another surgery and who knows what else.The doctor did say it might take a few more years to fully develop but that it was surly growing and heading in the right direction.

We just got back from our much anticipated vacation to Southern California, we stayed with Becky's grandma most of the time and a few days in the Knotts Berry Farm area. Sea World, Disneyland, California Adventure, Knotts Berry Farm and the beach....what a busy time!!! Brinley just love the whole thing...this was our first family vacation together and the first year since shes been born that we haven't had to plan for another surgery. I hope this trend continues for a long time! The weather, traffic and the lines for the rides we're all perfect with no problems.

Brinley's Dance Recital

We are so proud of Brinley, she has come a long way...anybody that has a heart child knows the struggles and the hurdles these kids must somehow overcome. I want her to always be an example to other heart families, that there is an end to all the wires, alarms, blood work, x-rays and medication... for how long who knows but I guess what I'm trying to say that when you are in the mist of all the surgeries and procedures its sometimes hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I would have never thought that we would see this day after everything she's gone through, she just amazes me! She truly has a heart of gold and has the sweetest personally. When people stop by to visit our blog they don't see the heart issues as they once were, I guess you would say that we're on the backside for a while. Please don't ever take their little lives for granted, cherish every moment...

A day at the Zoo

Saturday we had a chance to go to the zoo and meet up with the Andrew family to enjoy the day and remember their little angel Elaine who passed away from an congenital heart defect. Brinley was very attached to their daughter Violet and they held hands between watching the animals. It was a nice day, although the wind blew most of the day the temperature was comfortable. We also ran into another heart family, the Westmorelands their son just left the hospital not long ago for a much needed repair, his name is Kyler and he gave a few smiles...and looks great! Then we went to Brinley's cousin Carson's house to celebrate his 6th birthday and have a little cake and ice cream.
I then took my brother-in-law Larry to a comedy club for his birthday which is actually Sunday, he is about 6 months older then me and I let me know that every time his birthday rolls around. We also had my new brother-in-law Jimmy with us...it was alright time, nothing great. We ended up getting home to my in-laws house for the remaining few minutes of the Jazz game, which they ended up winning on the road against Houston. It was a very busy day and we were all very tired. Heres a few of the zoo pictures...

The passing of Grandma Boudreau

My grandma Boudreau passed away on April 7, 2008 she was 90 years old, she would have celebrated her 91st birthday on April 13th. Even though she was sick the last 6 months and we were told that she didn't have alot of time, she enjoyed a long life and we will miss her much. She would always send Brinley treats and gifts when she was in the hospital. Her room was filled with the pictures of the grand kids and great grand children as well. I took Friday off to attend Brinley's hip appointment with Dr. Holmes at PCMC @ 9:30 am. We had to arrive early because they called the day before to let us know that their x-ray machine was broken and to go to medical imaging to use theirs down on the first floor. So we got there at around 8:15(we were expecting a wait)but were pleasantly surprised when we walked right in and got it done. Brinley did well, she doesn't like this part because when she gets her heart x-rays they make her take off her clothes. Then we ate some breakfast down at the famous Rainbow Cafe, because we had a little time to burn. Dr. Holmes was on time and Brinley's appointment was fast, she was so surprised at how much she had grown since the last check-up. Her hips were looking good and her left hip is now starting to grow the ball which is fantastic news because if this hadn't start to form then we were in for another surgery for sure. Dr. Holmes said that it was growing slow and may take another 2 years to completely form.
I have to be honest this wasn't completely the reason for taking the day off, the day before my father-in-law called to see if I could get the day off to go fishing on the Provo river. I told him that if I took the day off I was surly going to Brinley's appointment and he agreed so he picked me up at the hospital around 10:00. We had a great time, the fishing was outstanding and I took a few pictures. It wouldn't be fishing if my father-in-law wasn't there, he's the one who taught me how to fly fish. Having him there is where we quietly bond with one another, its kinda strange but it is really something to be apart of, it seems like every fish I catch, he has a small part in. He was recently call into the Bishopric of his ward and will do a great job. We had a great time and I missed having my brother-in-law Matt there, he also is a prodigy of the master. We have both learned so much from him over the years not by what he says, but by what he doesn't always say, he truly leads by example.

Easter 2008

We had a great Easter weekend, Friday evening we decorated eggs, Saturday we took Brinley to a Easter egg hunt in Copperton park at 9 a.m. and it was very cold, lucky for Brinley she gathered her eggs quickly and turned them in for candy, then I rushed her off to the car for some heat that slowly thawed her hands. All of her cousins came and even though it was cold that morning they had a good time. Then we made it to the Herriman park for their Easter egg hunt that started at 10 a.m. It was a much larger event and there was also a few more things to do besides find the eggs and candy, like play on the fire truck and tour through the paramedics van. The city also provided free hot dogs, chips and lemonade for all the families. I was tired so I came home and took a nap while Becky took Brinley shopping with Grandma Linda and Aunt Shauna. We later met up to go to the new movie "Horton Hears a Who", Brinley loved it! Sunday we got up early and let Brinley find all the hidden eggs, the Easter Bunny even brought Brinley a new Disney princess bike, which she was so excited for. Then Becky made her famous Easter eggs creamed on fresh biscuits, it is always so good. Becky had Brinley put on her new pink Easter dress and off to church we went. When we got home we took a ride and that quickly made Brinley tired and she took a much needed nap, because that afternoon we spent at Becky's mom and dad's house for dinner and yes another Easter egg hunt with who else the cousins. When we got home that night Brinley just wanted to sit on her bike and want to ride around the house.

I've been thinking back. 4 years ago me and Mike were so excited,we were expecting our first child after 8 years of infertility and celebrating our 10yr wedding anniversary in Cancun. Then what a whirl wind of events took place,Brinley was born then surgery after surgery after surgery. Her first open heart surgery took place 3yrs ago tomorrow.(on our anniversary)
We went in for a heart cath and they told us her valve was shutting down and she was
not going anywhere but to the o.r. in the morning. I remember exactly how I felt last year at this time the eve of that first surgery. I couldn't hold her to too much because of the procedure she had before her leg had to be kept still. I wasn't sure if I would hold her again. I'll never forget when they took her down for surgery and the long hours waiting. She came out about 2:00 a.m. loosing a lot of blood, the resident tapping on the chest tube to keep it from clotting.Finally by morning she was doing a little better. After nearly 2 weeks at pcmc we came home on Easter Sunday. She was all dressed in her Easter dress. We went on to making March our month of heart surgery's. She had the glen the next year and her pig valve last year. Always either coming home on Easter or shortly after. This year were celebrating not being in the hospital and being in the clear for awhile. I guess March has always been our month. I guess you can call it our lucky month since we have survived them all. My heart goes out too our dear friends who are up there at this time and know we are praying for you.

I am so greatful I have Mike,I don't think I could have ever made it if it wasn't for
him picking me up off the floor. He was able to take time off work for every procedure. Going through all the things we've been through has strengthen our marriage. He is such a great father and I love watching them together.

Disney On Ice

Thursday night was our big night to attend the Disney On Ice Princess show at the ESA. Becky's sister Shauna went with us and brought Camryn, one of Brinley's cousins. The two girls are close in age and enjoyed having each others company. We stopped and grabbed some dinner for the girls at McDonald's on the way. We bought them crowns with Mickey ears and snow cones (pretty darn expensive) I took some pictures of the show and them as we sat in the arena. Brinley was so excited and talked about it all the way home.

I know its been awhile since I've posted anything and I just wanted to let everybody know were still alive and busy as ever. Work has been crazy and it seems as if every aspect of our lives and time has been gobbled up by something lately. I don't mind being busy but it seems as if were booked with one thing after another. Brinley is as cute as ever, she was trying on all her clothes the other night when she got to her swimsuit, Becky and I had a good laugh and were amazed that they didn't fit, she has grown so much since last spring/summer that they were giving her a weggie, because she has gotten so much taller! We are in the process of putting the final plans together for our family trip to Disneyland at the end of April, I personally can't wait for the time off and break from life...it will be so worth the memories that will be made with Brinley. Summer and the warmer weather is fast approaching hip hip hooray!!! I hope everyone that read this is doing well!!!

Brinley woke up Friday morning sick, we took her to the doctor and he confirmed an ear infection and possible strep throat. The antibiotics will cure both so we didn't have any throat cultures done. Becky, her sisters and her mom had a weekend away from all the kids and stress, got a hotel room, went shopping and went to the movies. I thought that with a couple of doses of antibiotics in Brinley and her starting to feel a little better the next morning, that I would take advantage of this opportunity to spend so quality time together as just a father/daughter weekend...Saturday morning we went to IHOP for some breakfast(Brinley loves pancakes and sausage), then I decide to take her to the Children's Discovery at Gateway www.discoverygateway.org/ ...she had a great time there and played for 6 hours while I patiently watched, we did take a break for some McDonald's chicken nuggets and a diet coke Brinley asked for...then it was time to go I couldn't take anymore and thats where she broke out in a tantrum because she of course didn't want to leave, soooo I had to take her making a scene. I knew that she was just really tired because once back to the truck she said she was sorry and went to sleep --- without make it out of the parking structure!!! On our way home she awoke and we decided to stop and get a pizza and some treats for the evening. While we were waiting for the pizza to cook we went to her room and played "little people". We ate pizza and watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on DVD. We ended up snuggling and going to sleep in my bed. Wow what a day with nothing but junk food...well thats o.k. we had a great time together, I think in the future I will try and do more one on one things with her, it just seems like life gets a little busy at times and I forget how much fun she can be at this age.

CHD AWARENESS WEEK FEBRUARY 7-14, 2008

Intermountain Healing Hearts would like to celebrate Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week February 7-14th 2008 with valentines day as the highlight. I know that in 2005 the State of Utah, Governor Huntsman signed this week into proclamation. As we have had the opportunity to experience the trials that Brinley has gone through and her battle with a CHD we didn't want to let this week pass and not bring it to attention and take this chance to celebrate her and the disease that has dictated her route in life. Having said any of the above we would never trade Brinley or the experiences we have gone through for anything because we have learned so much about ourselves and the ultimate plan our heavenly father has given us. I have to admit that through it all there were many times we felt tested beyond our limits and the stress seemed at times more then we could ever bear, physically, emotionally and financially. I personally could have never made it without Becky, she is the most wonderful wife, I remember we would flip flop each other and trade our bad days between us, so that at least one of us was the "picker upper", I know that this whole thing has strengthen our marriage and we look forward to many good years as a family.

Leg aches

Brinley has been growing fast(tall), with that has come a bout of growing pains or leg aches, they seem to hit at night and are very painful. As a kid I don't remember having them but my brother told me that he had them alot when he was younger, Becky and her family (her Dad) had them quite a bit. Acetaminophen or ibuprofen and a warm water bottle or towel on her legs seems to help quite a bit with a massage and of course a little love and snuggle---any other tricks that might work?

A Look Back...

I'm not one for looking into the rear view mirror of life and second judging anything that has ever happened...even if my decisions haven't always been the best at times, but as I hang out with Brinley and remember all the times we've had with her and the trials that we have had...I can't help but notice how much and how fast she is changing. Mike Patton Jr. remembers the agony he went through after learning his soon-to-be born daughter had a heart defect.
Brinley Patton's heart was smaller than an almond when an ultrasound detected a problem just 22 weeks into Rebecca Patton's pregnancy.
"It's kind of like being tied to the railroad tracks and the train is coming. I had never heard of a baby's heart defect," said Patton, of Riverton. "The feeling and emotion of the whole thing was one of loneliness and no support whatsoever."
Today, Patton and Carolyn Quigley, of Santaquin, are working to ensure other parents of children with congenital heart defects get help through Intermountain Healing Hearts, a support group they have formed.
So far, 53 families have connected with the support group, which has a Web site, www.intermountainhealinghearts.org, and a free telephone line, 800-397-1174. It also operates a Yahoo chat group, which gets 300 to 400 e-mail contacts a month.
Primary Children's Medical Center performs about 20 heart surgeries a month, Patton said.
"We'd like to see more research dollars put into finding out what is causing heart defects. Some are genetic, but most are not," Patton said.
Kaidence Stephenson is one of the success stories that gives hope to parents.
So is Brinley Patton, who was born in 2004. She had four heart surgeries in the first 30 months of her life; like many children with heart defects, she also had eye and hip problems that required surgery.
Despite those challenges, she is a healthy, growing preschooler today, her father said.
"I want to show [other parents] how well she's doing, that there is hope for them," Patton said.
"Most of [our effort] is trying to get parents with [similar] diagnoses talking to each other."

I thought that I would let everyone know that I just got off the phone with a reporter her name is Brooke Adams from the Salt Lake Tribune, she did a phone interview with me about our group Intermountain Healing Hearts and the work that we have done to bring awareness and support to families and the community about congenital heart defects. I think that in will be in tomorrows paper 1/22, it might be a side note to the Kaidence story, but I'm not sure. I was trying to get them to focus on the group and CHD week but you know reporters they'll write whatever they want to make the story work for them. I guess I shouldn't care about what they write as long as our name is in black and white...some way some how we're going to make an impact on the community and bring some much needed attention to this disease. Already our group has done so much, but there is still so much that can be done.

Feeling Better

Brinley is still in recovery mode but feeling much better, the nasty cough that she had has made considerable improvements. She is now speed talking without taking a break, I remember not to long ago when we couldn't wait to hear her first words now she will drive you crazy with her conversations about everything, I guess Becky went to pick her up from my in-laws house and my mother-in-law just rolled her eyes at all her jabber about everything and anything...I try not to let it get to me and realize that she has found many words to use in her arsenal and is just show casing them for us. On another side note Becky just signed Brinley up for preschool for the fall...I guess you can't stop them from growing up, I just feel like we missed her baby stages with all the surgeries and such. At the first of the year she also moved into sunbeams, another step forward she is amazing!!!

Getting There...

I think things are starting to work, Brinley has started to act a little more like herself. Shes getting tired of the breathing treatments and all the medication,(she remembers the breathing treatments from when her lungs collapsed at the hospital) I tell her its better then getting shots, and then she quickly agrees. Overall I have to admit that things are definitely getting better, since shes been sick I have heard of alot of kids coming down with similar illness...these respiratory illness are extremely hard on these heart kids, its one of those things you don't want to wait too long on and have them hospitalized, infections can travel quickly to the heart and cause all sorts of trouble. Thanks for the prayers and keeping Brinley in your thoughts.

Can't lick Being Sick

Brinley is still sick, last night she was short breathing or panting kinda like a dog, Becky woke up and was very concerned and took her to the pediatrician this morning and the doctor was very careful about knowing her history. He said that it might not be pneumonia but another respiratory infection with a form of as asthma that is closing off her airway and restricting her from getting air...so he put her on some breathing treatments with a nebulizer, xopenex and a steroid prednisolone along with the oral antibiotic ceftin that she has been taking...whew I hope this works, on a good note she has been free from the high temps that she has been plagued with since Saturday. If this doesn't work its a sure trip to PCMC. These little heart kids are tough but I also know that things like this hits them harder then healthier kids. Please keep her in your prayers as she fights her way back to health.

Brinley is sleeping now,but she was sure was not happy about getting 2 shots in her tiny ,skinny little legs. The doctor almost had me in a panic,{like I'd never been there before}.Before she did the x-ray she was going on and on that if this wasn't an phnemonia that it could very well be an infection of the heart,when ever there are foreign objects in the body like her pig halve there is always that chance of there being an infection.Dahh!! Why do you think I brought her in.Don't get me wrong I really appreciate the medical professionals but some time they don't give us any credit!

I'm really glade I have the support of my family,Brinley wanted her grandma,so she ran right over to sit with us at the kids care.She kept me calm as I rolled my eyes at the doctor.Especially as she said if her fever spikes or she doesn't get better to bring her back by Friday and well have to admit you to a hospital! I looked at her and said I won't be back if she needs more treatment I'll just go to PCMC. That would be a good idea! Yea thanks. I'm just glade this little illness is not setting back any surgerys.

Still Sick Update...

Becky just called and said that they took some chest x-rays and confirmed that Brinley has a bad case of pneumonia in both lungs...their giving her a shot of antibiotics tonight and again tomorrow and then another different oral antibiotic to take. Looking back on it they didn't take any x-rays the first time...oh well whatever it takes to get her healthy again...we'll do.

Still Sick...

Brinley is still sick and is still having high temperatures, her test came back negative for a UTI, but they think that it sounds like chemical urethritis. She has been on antibiotics since Saturday afternoon and it hasn't seem to help any...so tonight Becky took her back over to the Kidscare to see if there is any thing else that may be the cause, she has slept most of the day and seems lethargic and hasn't eaten anything today. Well we'll wait and see what they say tonight, hopefully they'll have some answers and she can get back to herself.

The Cold Bug

Well we couldn't avoid the cold season without a couple of visits to the IHC Kidscare, Brinley has been complaining of a stomach ache, nasty cough, complaints of a possible UTI and temps over 100. We took her to the Kidscare on Saturday afternoon and she was put on antibiotics, were still waiting on a test back to confirm the UTI...hopefully she can feel better sooner then later. This has been a weekend of watching movies and getting some much needed sleep for everyone. I feel so lazy when this happens, but who can't use the extra sleep during these short winter days? Well back to nothing...

New Year Day Fun

Brinley went on a sledding trip on New Years Day, we didn't know what to expect because she gets cold very easy, but we bundled her up well, so much so she could hardly walk it was kinda funny. We enjoyed giving her an opportunity to play in the snow since we have kept her from it every winter she been alive. I think we're starting to open up a little and just enjoy our lives with no fears of the "next surgery" looming over us all the time. She did better then we thought and had a ton of fun in her new sled she got from Christmas.

Work Hard and Play Harder...

Today I played "pro guide" ice fishing with a couple of friends from work, we went to Strawberry Reservoir. It was cold, about 6 degrees when we arrived there at 6:30 a.m. the wind was blowing a little and probability made it feel like it was well below zero. The fishing wasn't as good as I had hoped but we all caught fish and had a great time enjoying the outdoors. The ice was about 3-4" thick and cracked and popped all day, but was clear and safe (years of experience tells me this). It snowed off and on most of the day but that doesn't really bother me much, the fish were all quite big in the range of 18" to 22". Well off to the shower and a much needed rest!

Christmas Fun

We had a great time being together as a family and being with extended family as well, we opened the gifts and enjoyed watching Brinley get excited about the gifts from Santa. Most of all we just enjoyed each other and reflected on the true meaning of the birth of Christ.

I know this may come to a surprise and shock to all of you, but I can use a computer,Mike just seems to be a little more savvy in it. It has been such a nice
Christmas already,no hospitals,no surgery to worry about if going to grandmas with everyone else will jeopardize that,and no 2:oo am in the morning with temps at 101 with ear infections,that take you until 10:00a.m. to find out thats all and get a antibiotic. Brinley and Mike are already exhausted and taking a nap @ 9am. I am so greatful for these times as well as for the times we have had they make us the family we are. Mike is my rock I couldn't do anything without him. I am so at awe to see how he loves to be involved in our support group IHH. He loves these kids and their families so much and we have learned so much from them, and am so greatful for this. So everyone Merry Christmas and good luck in the next year in what is coming your way!

I just wanted to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, and that I'm great full for all of the friendships, new or the ones that have been strengthened this year! I look forward to all that the new year has in store, with Brinley given a clear bill of health for another 6 months, we feel blessed that we have a chance to spend more quality time together as a family doing the things we love and sharing those moments with her and making many memories to last a lifetime. Those who know me and my brothers know we love being in the outdoors hunting,camping and my close love of fishing. Living life outside the bubble this year, for the first time since shes been born is a wonderful thing! I feel so blessed to have a wonderful wife that I love and I can't believe how long we've be together, she is such the strength of our family. Brinley is really developing a love of shopping hanging around her mom...she always goes walking around the house saying "My name is Brinley and I love to shop thats my motto shop till I drop" I really laugh under my breath every time she says that. We've also been very healthy so far this season, just a few minor brushes with your common cold, nothing big.
Well I better go I still have a few presents to wrap...Brinley is helping me!

Count Down for Christmas and a Heart...

As Christmas quickly nears, we excited about some news we received about our little heart friend Kaidence...her family just got news that a donor heart was found and that the surgery is very soon. It stirs up strong emotions inside of how important it is to be a donor, and the life saving possibilities and opportunities that can be placed on a delicate situation, life or death for both families involved. We are so excited for this chance that heavenly father has given Kaidence at such a special time of year. Please if you read this, remember to add this special girl and her family in your prayers. Also a trust fund has been set up in behalf of Kaidence Stephenson. Donations can be made by calling or visiting any America First Credit Union.
I often wonder what would have happened if we had given up hope, if we hadn’t trusted in priesthood blessings, if we hadn’t accepted the Lord’s will regarding our daughter. I am grateful for the blessings and the perspective that the gospel has given us. Our experiences with Brinley have shown us the power of faith, of hope, and of the priesthood and have taught us the value of every human life. I know that Brinley will live to fulfill her mission on this earth—however long that may be.

We had a couple of visitors in the middle of the night that came and ate on our rose bushes...we haven't seen too many deer since the recent build up around our neighborhood the last couple of years. I think it must have been Donner and Blitzen?!?! but I couldn't be positive...

Monday Brinley had her first dance performance and the entire extended family showed up to support her, she did so well and we are so proud of her hard work learning her Christmas routine. As I was filming the event I felt so overwhelmed with emotion, that this little girl overcame all odds to be with us today and I thank heavenly father for her bright spirit in our home...she is such a blessing and an inspiration to all that know her.

Brinley's Appointment

Brinley had her appointment, and everything looked good!!! Dr. Su isn't ready to completely let her go without being seen again so we have to see him again in 8 months.
Brinley has been sick with fevers around 102 and a urinary infection along with a cough, she has been on antibiotics since Saturday...hopefully she can beat this soon, its tough when their not feeling well. She visits the dentist this week as well...

Well this weekend I destroyed the inside of the house, when we built the house almost 10 years ago we did the old paint for down thing and the old plain white walls have always driven us crazy...so I'm texturing and painting them. It really started with the idea of one wall textured and sponge painted and now has mushroomed into the whole house being textured and two toned painted...oh well it will look nice when I'm done!

In all the mess I've created Becky and Brinley decided to make cookies on Sunday evening so we could watch Brinley's new movie "Meet the Robinson's". Brinley's favorite thing to do is lick the batter after the cookies are done...another mess...its so nice to see her doing so well and we don't mind the clean-up!!!

Healing and Prayers needed...

I visited the hospital today after work, to check in on Kaidence and see how she was doing with her new Berlin heart...I talked with Mike (Kaidence's dad) and he was so happy that things went as well as planned, it was nice to feel his strength and positive vibe about the operation. Hopefully this will give her heart the rest and recovery that it needs to heal itself and maybe recover fully. I also visited with the Wiley's to see how their son Cohen was doing and was pleasantly surprised that they were being discharged to go home he looked great, the battles for these families and many more is far from over but with the strength of many prayers I hope that November will be a starting point of healing for all of these families!

The BOO at the ZOO

Saturday we went to the zoo for their event "Boo at the Zoo" we met our friends the Quigley's and the Andrew's there...it was a crazy day at the zoo, but spending it with good friends was a lot of fun. Brinley had a great time with the kids and the weather couldn't have been any better for the 27th of October!!! Sadly enough I forgot my camera...
After the Zoo we decided to swing by PCMC to visit friends that are in the PICU and see how things were going for them and also take a peek at the cardiology board that they have given to us to decorate with our group information. Things for our small group are moving fast and it is exciting to watch it start to take some kind of direction...it is a lot of work, but when you are doing something for the battle against congenital heart defects that you feel so strongly about it makes it all worth it...and that I do know!

A Tough Time for Heart Babies

This weekend Rebecca and I along with some of our friends from Intermountain Healing Hearts, attended a funeral for Baby Jack Nelson. We had met this family a couple weeks ago along with 2 other families having the same battle with their children (CHD'S), the Gozart's and Pearson's. We loved getting to know these families in person and though their blogs. We considered ourselves lucky to have had a chance to meet with them.
After the funeral we attended a meeting at PCMC to help set up the inter workings of the new support group and discuss direction of things to happen in order for us to establish ourselves.
After the meeting Becky and I rushed home to get Brinley to a Halloween party in Herriman and she had a great time with her cousins, although it was snowing most of the time. I found out that candy cures cold hands!?!?
When we arrived home and settled down Becky received a call from Carolyn (from Intermountain Healing Hearts) and she had told us of the passing of Baby Luke Gozart...we were shocked in hearing the news...as we have both taken these losses very personal...
We continue to pray for comfort for these families along with many more in various stages of repair or in need of hearts.
Its Monday and the sun is out, maybe its a sign of a brighter week ahead....

This weekend Becky and I have gotten sick, she went to the instacare and found out that she had strep, we both have been taking antibiotics and are feeling much better. Somehow Brinley didn't get sick at least not yet, hopefully not at all. Sunday we had family pictures at Gardnar Village with my family, my brothers and I try and get pictures taken about every other year with our families. It turned out to be a nice afternoon and the photos will make my mom happy at Christmas time!

Fall is in the air...

Brinley is feeling much better, she has dance classes on Wednesdays, and she just loves it!!!! We just picked out her new outfit for her Christmas performance in December. It just blows me away to see her doing so well. She is talking, and talking and talking I can't believe that she has come so far so fast, she is truly an amazing little girl...
We have been mowing and trimming the yard, cleaning up the flower beds, cleaning out the window wells and blowing out the sprinkler system, trying to get a jump on old man winter. The backyard really came together this year with the addition of the new shed we had built in the spring and last week we added some power so we could have plugs and lights. We have also moved most of what was in the garage down to the shed so we could comfortably fit both the truck and the car. (NICE)
Monday I took off work and went to a pumpkin patch/farm that had all sorts of things to do, Becky and I loved to watch Brinley try and catch a pig by its tail, rides from a tractor and collect as much candy as she could get her hands on. We had a great time and well worth my time away from work.

Not just another Tuesday

This morning Brinley woke up not feeling well, Becky said it started last night with Brinley having pains in her stomach and she was rubbing her right ear. She ran a fever through the night and we gave her some medications to help control it. She wanted me to rock her in the rocking chair in the front room until she got tired again and wanted back into our bed, I just enjoyed doing that for her she is my everything and it was nice for her to want me so much. We went to the instacare where we found out that she had a ear and urine infection. The doctor wrote her a prescription....

Today was Brad's viewing and funeral, Becky and I both went and we dropped Brinley off at a friends house. It was so nice to see all the people that showed up to pay their respects, I know that his wife Gayla really appreciated it, so did both sides of the families. It had been a long time since I had gone to a funeral and was a little tore up about it inside. It just crossed my mind again that this life is so short and we should all enjoy everyday we have hear--heavenly father has a plan for each one of us...

I just found out tonight that Ian Pearson, just got word that a donor heart was on its way and that the doctors would start the operation as soon as possible. That's great news for his family, hopefully all goes well and they will be blessed with his recovery soon...

A tough weekend

This weekend has been a tough one, a good friend Brad passed away Friday with his family surrounding him until the end it was a tough 2 year battle with brain cancer. His wonderful wife was by his side the entire time along with his 2 kids Justin and Luke. He will be missed.

Also the Pearson's son, Ian is in the hospital fighting his battle with a serious heart defect, are now on a waiting list to receive a heart to become available, he is on ECMO to keep him alive.

Another close heart family the Homers received some bad news about their son Alex, his surgery has been canceled and found out that he has to take additional drugs in hope of fighting off having a transplant as well.

My mother in law, Linda is going in for a check up on Monday, hopefully things go well for her, she is a rock in our family.

So many trials for our friends right now, I hope and pray for the strength to help them in any way possible. I know that there is a plan for everyone, our heavenly father cares and knows each one personally.

Becky went to the meeting Saturday night, and that gave me a chance to spend a little one on one time with Brinley, we went to Cabela's to see the stuffed animals and to look around, then she wanted to go to "the play place" McDonald's. She had a great time playing and making new friends. We had a great time, she is growing up so fast.

Today Brinley went to build a bear with her aunt Sara, to make a bear that Sara bought for Brinley's b-day. They had so much fun! Brinley just loves bears,babies and is so motherly to them. Its still so hard for me to believe that shes 3 years old, it seems like yesterday that she was fighting for her life through all her surgeries and then here she is so happy. Our next visit to Dr. Su is in Nov. hopefully everything is still going well. I'll try and keep on this blog, it just seems like I've got so much going on...
